Golden Brother International Held the OHS Meeting in May 2024

Brother International held the May OSH meeting on Thursday afternoon, 16th of this month.  During the meeting, colleagues were briefed on the current situation of deficiencies in on-site management audits, the dangers of smoking in the context of health promotion, as well as the legal effects of smoking in the event of fire accidents.

 

During the meeting, each district supervisor was asked to give a short briefing of the occupational safety and health situation in his/her area.  Afterwards, the following topics were emphasized again:

1. Occupational Safety and Health Emergency Response Plan
The aforementioned contingency plan has now been placed on the internal website, and we ask that colleagues review it again, if you do not have further comments, please follow the plan to conduct subsequent operations.
2. Preventive Plan for the Execution of Duties Subjected to Unlawful Infringement
To confirm that each territory understands the risks associated with their area, and within the company's existing resources and capabilities, please make every effort to implement and carry out the necessary improvements.  Also, please sign and return the attachments required by the aforementioned plan as early as possible.
3. Smoking in the Dormitory
Smoking in the dormitory may lead to fire, and should be emphasized under the dormitory management rules and regulations.  If a fire occurs in the dormitory, the resident who causes the fire will be held liable for civil and criminal charges.  In addition, according to the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act, Article 18, Paragraph 1, Article 19, Paragraph 1, and Article 20, smoking is not allowed in the aforementioned premises.  The first paragraph of Article 20 states, "For places other than those listed in Paragraph 1 of Article 18 or Paragraph 1 of the preceding article, smoking is prohibited at the place where the owners, managers, or persons in charge designate the place to be non-smoking. " Since the company's dormitory rules and regulations state that smoking is not permitted in the dormitory, the hall management department shall carry it out in accordance with the dormitory rules and regulations issued by the company.
Violations of the law will be penalized by the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act, and violations of the regulations will be subject to administrative action by the company.
4. Information Sharing with Migrant Workers
To enable migrant workers to fully understand the issues of concern to the government and the company in terms of language, the Workforce Development Agency, MOL has set up the " Foreign National Labor Rights Portal ", and the publicity documents therein will be placed under the "Migrant Publicity" tab of the company's official website (https://www.golden-brother.com/index.php?action=news&cid=8&lang=EN), from which colleagues may obtain information about migrant workers from the "Propagation Material" tab.  All the promotion documents will be placed under the "Propagation Material" tab of the company's official website (https://www.golden-brother.com/index.php?action=news&cid=8), from which colleagues can obtain the necessary promotion information for the benefit of migrant workers.
5. GB Serve App
Since the development and use of the GB Serve App, it has been quite effective in disseminating training.  District supervisors continue to encourage migrant workers to download and install the App, and to disseminate publicity information through it.
6. Fire Drill Information
In the "Dormitory Resume" tab under "Dormitory Management" in the internal website, each district should include information about the dormitory such as the "fire drills" conducted in the dormitory, so that all the past information about the dormitory can be included, which not only facilitates the different colleagues to face the external audits, but also helps the succeeding coordinator to know about the incidents that have happened in the past.
7. Fire extinguisher uploading information
The "expiration date" of fire extinguishers in the internal website will automatically show "expired" in black color!  Please note that the color of the fire extinguishers should not be black at any time, but must remain within the range of red or yellow at all times.

 

At the end of the meeting, Chairman Lee reminded everyone again that zero tolerance of fire is a major policy of the company, and that it is necessary to communicate with the customers and the migrant workers to facilitate the promotion and implementation of the work.
